In-flight entertainment experience

Boarding_Intro

Teague design team, in collaboration with Panasonic, B/E Aerospace and Formation Design Group, has defined & built a future in-flight experience for a business class seat.
Teague team of UX and industrial designers focused primarily on interactive touch points of the seat.

Balanced business experience vision

I participated in fly-along research as well as helped summarize Teague’s business strategy, fly-along observations & trend research in the following experience principles.

Integrated

Integrated

Physical space & controls, entertainment and even passenger’s personal device are integrated as a cohesive ecosystem. For example, there are no bezels for third party products or redundant controls.

Informed

The journey consists of transitions from one activity to the next. Important & timely information supports a comfortable balance of passenger’s rest & productivity.

Informed

Adaptive

Adaptive

Immersive in-flight experiences are manifested through better visual and sound quality as well as through space’s ability to sense and adapt to the passenger’s changing needs.

Personalized

Suite space learns about new passengers and recognizes the returning ones. Passenger is presented with content and suite settings that align with their personal preferences or recent activities.

Personalized

Ideation

Teague team has a lot of experience and knowledge working in the aviation space. So I facilitated an internal workshop, where participants got to create their business class traveler and role played their travel scenario. Foam seat mockup and props were used to describe their experience and placement of controls.

Scenarios

These scenarios helped narrow down features and align further hardware and software development between all teams.

 • Use case scenario for a returning devoted customer
 • Use case scenario for an upgrader Persona
 •

Concept development

Defining interaction touchpoints, their locations, developing wireframe flows and testing them, creating final visual design and hand off materials for development.

Collaborative nature of the project allowed all parties to reach the next level of integration between physical and digital components of the seat. Fully functional mock up was showcased and became a Crystal Cabin Awards Finalist at the AIE aviation show in Hamburg 2016. The seat along with the experience is scheduled to hit the marker in 2019. Learn more about the project: CNN TechAirline TrendsCore77Teague.
